Erinch R. Ozada is the Chairman of AZVA Overseas & Trading Ltd., a global trading, consulting and development company.
Mr Ozada was born in 1959 in what is today Turkish Northern Cyprus. He completed secondary school in the United States (TC Williams High School, National Honor Society) and then attended Hamilton College (BA, magna cum laude, 1982, Economics and Political Science) and Columbia University (MBA, honors, 1984, International Finance). Mr Ozada, also in 1984, joined Goldman Sachs in New York, rising to become Vice President of its Private Wealth Management Division. At Goldman Sachs, Mr Ozada advised clients on asset allocation and portfolio management, and he managed discretionary investment accounts in excess of US$1 billion. He performed this work for select high net- worth individuals, family offices, and a variety of institutions throughout the world, including the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Mr Ozada ultimately declined partnership at Goldman Sachs in order to remain in New York City and to use his specialized knowledge to establish his own fund management business.
In 1996, Mr Ozada founded Archery Capital of which he was the Chairman and CEO for more than a dozen years. Mr Ozada worked in every aspect of modern capital markets at Archery, with an emphasis on advising both family groups and institutional clients on asset, portfolio, and risk management. Mr Ozada was responsible for setting the overall strategic management, exposure, and asset allocation processes for the funds managed by Archery, which numbered up to the many hundreds of millions of US dollars.
Upon his marriage to his Turkish wife in 2007, Mr Ozada relocated to Istanbul and is now the proud father of two sons.
Mr Ozada was for a number of years a member of the Board of Directors of the American Field Service-USA, which is an organization praised throughout the world for its high-quality programs and its role in promoting educational exchanges so that young people may experience the world outside their own countries. Mr Ozada is keenly interested in education and fostering inter-cultural understanding, as he sees this as the best bulwark against the prejudices and misconceptions which so often lead to conflicts between peoples. So, he also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Turkish Philanthropic Fund which was organized to support charities in Turkey, in particular to promote and engender a renewed culture of philanthropy and community- building amongst Turkish Americans. Mr Ozada also personally supports and helps to educate various individuals, including young emerging artists. He has created the Ozada Scholarship which provides support both at Turkish schools and at schools in Europe and the United States. He is an active member of the Istanbul Bosphorus Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO/WPO), of Galata Business Angels (GBA) and is a founding member of Columbia University Global Center in Istanbul.
