Ömer Faruk Akarca was born in İzmir in 1979. He grew up in Ankara where he graduated from TED Ankara Koleji in 1996. After graduating from Başkent University with BA in Electrical Engineering he moved to Chicago to start MBA in University of Illinois at Chicago in 2003. During these years he concentrated on entrepreneurial studies within the Lietaud Business School having encouraged from the fact that during that time the entrepreneurship program was amongst the top in the US. He provided entrepreneurial consulting services within the Small Business Association and later on with a group of friends from the Business School, their group developed their business idea and successfully pitched to angel investors. After some time he made his exit from the company and returned to Turkey. He worked couple of years in a British boutique consulting firm as a business development consultant, he took helm of family olive oil business as the 4th generation member and currently transforms the business to become more integrated into local and global markets. He joined Galata Business Angels – the foremost angel investing network in Turkey – in 2010 to help the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Turkey to grow and to be part of exciting and new ventures as an angel investor. Boatbookings.com, Mapps, Inploid, TiVi Network, Ustaeli.com, UniversiteliAnlatsın (sinaps.com) and Socioplus are some of the angel investment deals he participated in. He is also one of the founding members of Entrepreneur’s Organisation Turkey Chapter and currently holds Integration Chair.
