Nymbl Science is a global startup based in the UK and US. Nymbl provides the first and most comprehensive mobile and wearable technology based solution to address the global health care challenge of decreasing balance and increasing falls in an ageing population.
Balance is a complex phenomena which takes years to develop as a child. It relies on input from multiple sensory systems including the vestibular, somatosensory, and visual systems.
Nymbl’s beginnings track back to the South of France, where Founder Dr. JP Farcy connected with the rest of the founding team. Dr. Farcy’s work and research had focused on balance, and found that a person’s balance has a strong correlation to surgical outcome. More importantly, Dr. Farcy, along with other leaders in the field, found that balance can be improved most effectively via dual-tasking: the combination of physical exercise and concurrent cognitive challenge.
Armed with this fundamental understanding of how to improve balance, the founding team merged Dr. Farcy’s medical and scientific knowledge with a deep understanding of digital technology. Nymbl leverages modern mobile smartphone technology to reach a previously unreachable audience. Using the combination of modern technology and scientific foundation in dual-tasking, they are pursuing our mission of preventing 1 million falls.
